Miami Liquor License Renewal Checklist 2026

A Miami liquor-license file can contain three separate annual records: the Florida ABT license, the City of Miami Business Tax Receipt, and the Miami-Dade County Local Business Tax Receipt. They come from different authorities and do not share one renewal date.

Florida ABT license

Florida Administrative Code Rule 61A-3.0101 places vendors and distributors in Miami-Dade County in the April 1 through March 31 license year. The rule provides a renewal opportunity during the 30 days before expiration.

Confirm the license category and expiration date in DBPR’s official record before applying this schedule. The rule assigns other categories, including manufacturers and importers, to a different license year.

City of Miami Business Tax Receipt

The City of Miami describes the Business Tax Receipt as the city record required to conduct business. City guidance states that its receipts expire September 30.

For renewal, the city’s current download page says there is no new application process and instructs the business to pay the renewal invoice. If the invoice or renewal email is missing, use the city’s contact and account-update instructions instead of assuming the receipt renewed automatically.

Miami-Dade County Local Business Tax Receipt

Miami-Dade County says its Local Business Tax Receipt covers one year from October 1 through September 30. It also states that a business located inside a municipality must obtain both a city receipt and a county receipt.

Track the city and county receipts as two records even though they share a September 30 expiration date.

Certificate of Use and premises changes

City of Miami business guidance pairs its Certificate of Use and Business Tax Receipt processes. Review the Certificate of Use and related city requirements when opening a location or when the address, use, occupancy, or premises changes. Confirm the required action directly with the city rather than treating it as part of every ABT renewal.

Internal operating cadence

Before the March 31 state expiration

  • Verify the DBPR license, category, premises, and status.
  • Open the renewal during ABT’s 30-day window.
  • Retain the state submission, payment, and issued license.

Before the September 30 local expiration

  • Confirm the City of Miami renewal invoice and business details.
  • Confirm the Miami-Dade receipt number and renewal payment.
  • Save the renewed city and county receipts separately.

Whenever the location changes

  • Review the state licensed-premises record.
  • Confirm the City of Miami Certificate of Use and related requirements.
  • Assign an owner and next action to every incomplete record.

The organization checkpoints are operational recommendations. The state and local regulatory statements were checked against the linked government sources on September 14, 2026.
