Ontario Liquor Sales Licence Renewal Guide for Restaurants

For an Ontario restaurant, an AGCO liquor record is a premises-level operating control. The useful question is not simply whether a renewal was started. It is whether the right licence, holder, premises, payment, and application proof are visible before the date on the issued licence.

Use iAGCO for the current transaction

AGCO identifies iAGCO as the online portal used to manage liquor-related licences, renewals, and changes. Before the renewal window, confirm the portal record against the issued licence and the restaurant’s legal and operating details. A change to ownership or the licensed area can require its own transaction; do not label it a routine renewal without checking AGCO’s current instructions.

Protect the expiry date

Ontario law provides for continuance pending renewal when the holder applies and pays the required fee before expiry, subject to the law’s conditions. That is not a reason to wait. Assign an owner, submit early enough to correct a rejected or incomplete file, and keep the confirmation, payment, and current issued record together.

A location-by-location operating checklist

  1. Confirm the licence number, holder, premises, expiry date, and responsible owner.
  2. Review whether ownership, operating name, licensed areas, or other material premises details changed.
  3. Use iAGCO to complete the applicable renewal or change transaction.
  4. Save the submission confirmation and payment proof.
  5. Verify the current status and record the next review date for the individual restaurant.

For a broader restaurant file, pair this renewal guide with the Ontario restaurant permit checklist. PermitsAlert helps teams track the owner, evidence, next action, and renewal date; it does not file with AGCO or replace agency guidance.
